In Fallout 4, armor can be modified using junk components. Anyone can create new base-level modifications, remove any existing modifications from armor, and apply any player character-owned modifications to armor. I've avoided these for a long time in pretty much every Bethesda game I've ever played because too often they are implemented pretty poorly in the game. Oftentimes they use menus and place items in the game that just immediately takes me out of immersion for not being 'in-line' with everything else in the game.I've decided that I need to stop being such an idiot and actually take a look at some of these for FO4.
I made the leap and played with mods like Ordinator and Requiem for Skyrim and absolutely loved it.So what are some of the best (or your personal favorite) gameplay overhauls and why? I really want an overhaul(s) that change the game quite a lot for a new experience, but stick with as much realism and immersion as possible.I looked at Horizon and while it looks interesting, it adds a LOT of stuff to the game. I'm worried that a lot of this stuff is just plain unimmersive and excessive.I've used Arbitration and Weapons of Fate before and found that I liked them simply because they weren't so intrusive. They just slightly changed some of the systems the game had.I know I'm picky as hell, but I'm sure most of us here won't settle for anything less than the perfect mods for our playthroughs. Unbogus Fallout. I like feeling closer to the vanilla experience, but the mod page says that Unbogus Fallout wasn't made for Survival mode, which I never plan to not play.
I don't know how I feel about drastically changing the game experience. On one hand, I've played the game so much that maybe I need the experience to be changed significantly. On the other hand, Horizon has a ton of information and a lot to take in. It might just be too much.How are the things you bulleted implemented in Unbogus? Are they done well or sort of half-assed? Like, does Weapons of Fate do realistic ballistics better than Unbogus and you just use Unbogus because it's in an all-in-one package?.
Since this is my first fo4 run I didn't want to install things that I might not need or understand, so I decided to start the game with very few mechanics changing mods to get an idea of what I wanted to improve. Also because coming from skyrim I knew that any kind of substantial overhaul would bring compatibility issues with it, so I didn't wanna spend hours upon hours more trying to make everything work, if that makes sense.After adozen hours I realized that enemies were too spongy and the vanilla perks were kinda boring. Someone in here suggested those 3 unbogus modules and I decided to give em a go, I didn't realize there was a complete oeverhaul at first.Now, many of the modification that unbogus overhaul brings I'm not sure I'd need, but anything is possible:)I wanted to try a bullet time mod, specifically VAFS, and apparently there's a compatibility patch for UF's that alters some perks to better work with VAFS, but the patch only works with the overhaul esp and doesn't with the single unbogus perks esp, so this might make me upgrade to UF:p. It's pretty much the same as Weapons of Fate, but with the other balance changes in Unbogus it feels better personally. Maybe because VATs isn't as OP and enemy AI is tweaked, so gun fights feel more immersive and you get to see tracers whizzing past more often.As for other things,. Out of VATS crits is done really well, there are perks that tie into it and your Luck is more of a factor.
It's also a really solid perk overhaul, I really like some of the design decisions more so than any standalone perk overhaul I've tried. It's really hard to choose perks now.
The health scaling and NPC scaling is pretty much exactly the same as the standalone mods available, but the armour and weapon rebalancing just feels right to me. Not too bullet spongy). VATS is definetly weaker and there are several mods that do this on their own too, it reduces the damage reduction and the slow rate. Also the AP cost is a little higher. There is a VAFS Unbogus patch if you prefer VAFS!. The weapon and armour overhaul is really good to me.
I've played with a few combinations and this one (obviously) feels the most cohesive (but so did Horizon for what it was trying to achieve). It does have compatibility issues with some armour mods but Eli's Armour compendium seems fine to me. It has several weapon compatibility patches so there's plenty of compatible custom weapon mods to fill your game too. I've tried Arbitration on it's own with few other mods before Unbogus. And it's nowhere near as aggressive as Arbitration but the AI is more aggressive than vanilla. And they use explosives more which they usually have more of too (and Synths have flashbangs for example). I feel explosives are generally more abundant and useful in Unbogus in general.Yep, as far as I can tell it rebalances pretty much everything, including uniques and DLC weapons (like the Harpoon gun, which really needed it).
Are they decent? Well I guess that's subjective but I think so, the other vanilla weapon overhaul I've tried has been Equilibrium which was also very good. Well I can always recommend.;-)Horizon doing too much is a turnoff for a lot of people lately. I've been recommending this 'base' gameplay stack for a while now:.Better Locational Damage (with or without loot module).if not using BLDs loot module: Loot Logic and Reduction or Fallout 4 Loot Overhaul 2016.PIRAD.Agony.Arbitration.Pack Attack NPCsSprinkle in one or two weapon packs and off you go. If you want a more in-depth survival experience, Fallout 2287: Gas Masks of the Wasteland is worth a look. I've heard BLD's loot module is really light and not very good.
I've use FO4 Loot Overhaul 2016 and I liked it a lot but I wish it was much more severe. I really want stuff to be scarce in my game. I've never used Agony and never even heard of PIRAD. I've never used BLD either but I've heard good things. Would you recommend it?
I've used Arbitration and found that I liked it simply because it didn't add a bunch of random stuff like bandages, triages, painkillers, etc.I've heard of Gas Masks of the Wasteland but I was under the impression it just made the air lethal if you weren't wearing a gas mask. It sounds cool but kind of annoying honestly.Thanks for the recommendations. I will definitely check this stuff out. I've read so much on this sub about how Horizon pretty much completely forces you to focus on settlements and all the good loot is acquired from crafting alone. Horizon looks huge and amazing but extremely overbearing and almost feels like a specialist overhaul and not a general overhaul.
You've got to love a mod. Although War might never change, with a mod absolutely can. And luckily for you there are some of the best Fallout 4 mods available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, which all let you customise your post-apocalyptic experience.

There's no denying that He's A Very Good Boy, Yes He Is, but a number of companion perks don't affect to him: Live and Love doesn't apply to the doggo, and he doesn't disable Lone Wanderer perk benefits. This mod allows you to have Dogmeat and another companion simultaneously.
Safety in numbers, right? Because you can't use external assets on the PS4, this mod isn't available for anyone with Sony's console. Bad Sony.Stronger DogmeatVanilla Fallout 4 has Dogmeat doing 1-2dps when he attacks the various nuisances corrupting the wasteland. As anyone with a fondness for the loyal companion will know, that doesn't really seem fair. In case you haven't guessed it yet, Stronger Dogmeat increases his damage to 58dps, making this canine deadly enough to send any raiders fleeing with their tails between their legs.Any Mod Any WeaponForget the weapon crafting limitations of the base game, the Any Mod Any Weapon mod lets your imagination run wild when you're at the workbench.
Ever want to shoot cannon balls out of a hand-held revolver, create an electrified mini gun, or shove a Deathclaw's claw onto a boxing glove? All possible with this mod.OCDecoratorFinally, you can do what your mother always told you to and pick up after yourself. The OCDecorator mod enables you to place any object on any other object, so placing weapons and armor on shelves or office fans on desks is no longer a pain in the ass.
Now you can have everything in your settlement neatly organized, locked in place, and perfectly displayed instead of having everything getting knocked over by NPCs and ending up in a pile on the floor.Place Anywhere/EverywhereFallout 4's vanilla settlement editor isn't the best. Walls don't always line up, you get items and furniture that just can't be placed where you want, and you end up with some unsightly gaps in your decorative structures (and even worse, defenses). The Place Anywhere/Everywhere mod allows you to clip into other objects so you can fit everything together neatly. No more gaps, no more mess., then.Legendary ModificationsIf you're looking for your weapons to pack a bit more punch, you might want to check out the Legendary Modifications mod. This mod adds a new modification slot to your weapon and armor crafting options, allowing you to include one legendary weapon or armor attribute to your item in exchange for a significant amount of materials. You can choose from a list of every attribute available in the game, giving you everything you need to make an unstoppable wasteland explorer.Infinite ammo for your companionThe trouble with giving your companion a weapon other than their default choice is that they love to burn through your ammo.

The Infinite ammo mod solves that problem. As long as your companion has one round of ammo for their respective weapon in their inventory, they can fire forever - except the Fat Man mini nuke launcher, because, well, that could create a disastrous situation.Armorsmith ExtendedIf you're a bit of a fashionista in Fallout 4, you're going to want to download the Armorsmith Extended mod, which adds a new Armorsmith crafting table that allows you to make clothes and armor, lets you wear gas masks and bandanas under more hats, and lets you upgrade every piece of clothing and armor. Really, it just makes every piece of clothing and armor more valuable, which is definitely a good thing. Unfortunately it's not on PS4, but Unified Clothing Overhaul is a super replacement - you just have to make sure Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource is installed first., then getSettlement supplies expandedThe standard Fallout 4 set of structures, furniture, and objects you can build and place into your settlement is pretty limited, but when you add Settlement Supplies Expanded, there is a much larger selection. With the mod installed, you'll find hundreds of new objects to add into your virtual home. The new items include everything from vault doors and barbed wire concrete walls to trees and even aircraft.Full Dialogue InterfaceWhen conversing with other characters in Fallout 4, sometimes your character can just say the darndest things.
Using the default paraphrased dialogue options doesn't always clearly convey how your character will respond with that choice. With the Full Dialogue Interface mod, you take out all of that guesswork. The entire response is written out on the dialogue option, which might help your conversations go the way you intend them to. Because Sony don't let their modders use external assets (thanks, Sony), this mod isn't going to appear on PS4 for the foreseeable future.
Damn.Lowered WeaponsThis is more of a personal preference, but it always bothers me when my character is always pointing his or her gun forward. Lowered Weapons makes your character's weapon handling a bit safer for those around them.
Whenever the weapon isn't being aimed or fired, the firearm is lowered to a less aggressive position. It's all about gun safety, people. If you aren't careful, you'll put someone's eye out. As is the case with the Full Dialogue Interface, Lowered Weapons uses external assets so can't be ported to PS4.
Yeah, I'm disappointed too.Craftable AmmoThe Craftable Ammo mod adds even more crafting to the expansive build-fest that is Fallout 4, but we have no problem with that. The mod includes a new crafting table called the Reloading Workbench, allowing you to take materials and fill your ammo stores with plenty of bullets and bombs. No need to wander the radioactive wilderness looting bodies and checking drawers for forgotten ammo.
Just get crafting and make it all yourself.
