I have a netgear wnr1000 v2. I have been in the router settings and had it check for the latest firmware. It tells me I have the latest and that version is 1.0.0.12NA. Now, when I go to the netgear website and look up my router here: it says the latest version is 1.1.2.54. So I download it and go to install it to my router and get the error 'Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file.' I know it's the right file.

Only 3 files are in the installation and they are.html,.img, and.txt, and the image file is the installation one. Yes, it is needed. I need to connect my router to a wireless access point or another router, because the location of the current router does not properly cover the whole house. This feature is not available with my current firmware and I cannot move the router. It would just be easier to get a wireless repeater or bridge two routers together.I do have comcast, so I am assuming it came from them.

Had it for a while, so couldn't tell you for sure, but definitely possible. Thanks for that info. I did not realize it worked that way. I thought the manufacturers of the router maintained the firmware, not the ISP.

Seems kinda odd in my opinion. I'll get ahold of them, but they probably won't be very useful.I do have another router, but it is an older one and this one is better. The older one is a wgr614 v9, but I have a similar issue with this one as well. I believe I have version 1.2.30 and latest is 1.2.6. You can simply plug a cable into the access point and configure the access point as needed.
